Dental Implants

Dental implants provide another alternative to replace missing teeth, dentures and/or bridgework.

They prevent bone loss in the jaw and may prevent gum recession. Implants are usually more comfortable than dentures. Unlike bridges, they do not require any cutting or reshaping of the tooth.Implants are designed to last for many years.

ADVANTAGES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

  • Implants are fixed and do not need to be removed or reattached.
  • Their build and material reduce the chances of food getting stuck or trapped in between the teeth.
  • They can be worn with confidence as they are firmly installed in the jawbone.
  • The teeth on either side of the gap do not need to be treated. This prevents complications such as tooth decay and the need for root canal treatment.
  • The cost is comparative to having a bridge.

CASES CAN TAKE AS FEW AS FOUR APPOINTMENTS

  1. Consultation
You will undergo a comprehensive consultation including X-rays and CT scans. We will provide you with a detailed treatment plan, including a breakdown of costs and schedule.
  2. Implant placement and temporary restoration
We will provide you with temporary teeth whilst the implant fuses to your bone.
  3. Recovery
The healing phase can range from weeks to months, with an average of 3 to 4 months recovery period for usual cases and longer for complex cases involving bone or soft tissue replacement. Impressions are then taken to allow the technician to make the final implant-supported teeth.
  4. Delivery of your final implant-supported teeth

REPLACING YOUR TEETH

Implants are considered an upgraded alternative over the often inconvenient option of wearing bulky, wobbly dentures.

When you choose dental implants, expect that your new set of teeth will look natural and acquire a more natural feel over time. By placing multiple strategically positioned implants around the jaw, they can form the foundation for a full set of beautiful teeth.

For a perfect and long-lasting fit, each case must be carefully assessed. The amount and quality of bone must be carefully measured and evaluated, as well as the direction of any bone and soft tissue loss. The number of implants, material and techniques to use in the manufacture of new teeth are determined according to a case-to-case basis.

The Whitfords Dental Centre team has many years of experience in considering all the factors and more. Our aim remains the same: To help you achieve the level of confidence and comfort that a full set of natural-looking and natural-feeling teeth can provide.

Any surgical or invasive procedure involves some amount of risk. Before proceeding, seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
